Pre-school sessions

Each half term we focus our work around a theme that the children help to decide. In the last year our topics have included: Bugs, Pirates and Fairies and Heroes.

While our days are full of variety they do have a routine. An average day looks something like this:

9 – 9.30: Settle in and take the register. Circle time gives the children a chance to share their news or things they have brought in from home. There is normally some staff led discussion/activity as well.

9.30 – 11.30: Mix of freeflow play (indoor and out door) and adult lead activities. The snack café is open during this sessions from 9.45 – 10.15.

11.3o: Tidy up

11.40 – 12.00: Group learning, letters and sounds activities, story, singing and music.

12.00: some children leave for the day while others start

12.10 – 12.40: Lunch time. Lunch can be brought from home or a cooked lunch can be ordered from the school.

12.40 – 1: Register, reading a story or staff led discussion/ activity.

1 – 2.30: Freeflow play (indoor and out door)and adult led activities. With the snack café open from 1.45 – 2.15.

2.30: Tidy up

2.40 – 3.00:  Group learning, letters and sounds activities, story, singing and music.

3.00: Home time

We are very lucky to be able to use the school hall for PE twice a week on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

On a Friday afternoon we can also offer a ballet lesson. If your child already attends on a Friday afternoon you can send them to ballet. If they don’t normally attend on a Friday afternoon you can come in with them for ballet. In either case you need to book a place and their is a cost of £10 per half term.
